It seems like I haven’t been updating my blog for quite some time now.

It’s already a week since I returned from my 10 days Taiwan trip. Instead of showing off the goodies bought from Taiwan, I’ll be posting a brief travelogue with some candid shots.

Both Jess and I spent RM20,000 in total for the trip. Imagine how many strollers I could buy with that kind of money…

We stayed at Han She Business Hotel at Ximen for the entire journey, except for a day at XinBeiTou. Of course, shopping was inevitable on the first day.

img_4560.jpg

Ximen is a well-known hotspot for youngsters. Here, you could find the latest and weirdest fashion apparels. Competitive pricing applies at Ximen fashion outlets. Some may even cheaper than in Malaysia.

img_4561.jpg

Though fashion apparels may seem cheap, but fruits considered otherwise. A packet of guava could easily cost up to RM10.

Apart from all the shopping at Ximen, Taipei GuGong or The National Palace Museum of Taipei is also worth a visit.

Taipei GuGong or The National Palace Museum of Taipei, features a large collection of Chinese historical artifacts.

img_4582.jpg

The museum itself showcase various chinas from different dynasties, Imperial Scrolls that feature the original handwritings of famous Emperors, and etc.

The main artistic masterpiece showcased in Taipei GuGong is the famous Jade Cabbage.

img_4586.jpg

Taipei GuGong is approximately 30 minutes by MRT and bus from Ximen.

img_4627.jpg

At night, a dear friend brought us to this famous ‘Ma La’ steamboat restaurant. A challenge to hot and spicy. Different taste added to a whole new experience.

img_4634.jpg

The next day, we headed to DanShui.

DanShui is famous for its local flea market.

img_4635.jpg

Here, local street performers gather to entertain visitors to DanShui.

img_4637.jpg

The flea market is just right next to the DanShui station.

img_4639.jpg

Also, you may spot a few stalls offering creative portrait drawings. The price for a drawing varies from stall to stall. On average is about RM40 per drawing.

img_4646.jpg

Some of the locals still staying in such shabby water houses.

img_4657.jpg

The view of the opposite island from DanShui flea market.

img_4661.jpg

Local street performers are mostly mid-aged folks to very old folks.

And they can still dance very well.

img_4666.jpg

That’s a lot of ’sampan’.

img_4671.jpg

The crowd at DanShui flea market.

img_4676.jpg

The only food that I hate most. ‘Rotten Tofu’. Unbelievably smelly…*yakssss*.

img_4684.jpg

Fruits coated with a layer of sugar. So sweet that it melts in your mouth. Only selling for RM1 per stick.

img_4687.jpg

Apart from the flea market, local shops also offer variety of goods to attract tourists.

img_4692.jpg

We also paid a visit to a local temple. Prayed for good fortune and health…

img_4706.jpg

These scoot scoot rule the streets of Taiwan. The major thing to lookout for when crossing the road. They are dangerous and they are everywhere.

img_4755.jpg

Some things that you should not miss out while at DanShui. That is to enjoy a game or two.

img_4759.jpg

Even Jess was very much tempted…

img_4767.jpg

And don’t forget to try the ice-cream as well.

After a half-day fun at DanShui, again we took the MRT and headed to XinBeiTou.

XinBeiTou is a mountainous region famous for hot springs.

img_4796.jpg

We arrived at the hotel, XinBeiTou. A night stay to fully enjoy hot spring bath.

img_4781.jpg

And this is our room for the night ala Tatami style. We even have our private hot spring bath area.

Not very used to going to a public hot spring, naked…

The advantage of having your own hot spring is, you can bath and soak as much as you want. No one cares.

This is want I call ‘To Enjoy Life’.

To be continued….
