Yesterday, dad was admitted to GlenEagles Intan Medical Centre for a mild heart surgery.

I mean we know that he was going to the hospital for his annual check-up, the day before. We even cracked a joke that he was going on a short holiday, checking-in to his so-called ‘hotel’ coz’ he had his bag packed, prepared to stay overnight.

Before I left for work in the morning, he was all fine, reading his newspaper. But who would expect that he would undergo a heart surgery on the same day.

Mom called in the afternoon on the same day, saying dad was in the operating theatre, undergoing a heart surgery. At that very instant, it felt like the whole world went dark. Worries and fear took over. It was just too sudden.

I just had to go to the hospital even if I knew it wouldn’t help. But at least I thought I could be by his side when he wakes up.

And there, I rushed to the hospital, to operating theatre as fast as I could. Mom was there waiting in front of the operating theatre.

“Is dad still inside?” I asked.

“Yea…”, she replied.

Not long after, the nurses pulled him out of the operating theatre. Mom and I approached him, hoping that the surgery went smooth.

“Dad. Are you feeling ok? How was the surgery? Painful or not?”, I asked.

Feeling like usual lor. Not painful at all. But the surgeon inserted quite an expensive 16mm long tiny metal rod thing into my coronary artery. I said put lar. Expensive also never mind”, he said. *trying to act macho and joke about it in front of me and mom*

And so, they placed him in the High Dependency Unit, where the nurses will monitor his condition for 24 hours.

So today in the afternoon, he was transferred back to his ‘personal room’.

From the looks of it, he seems alright.

It’s definitely a relieve for all of us.

Dad with his macho act said, “I wanna discharge tomorrow. I can rest at home instead of here.”

“No dad. You are staying here for a few more days. Besides, do you think you will sit still at home and not walk about? Who knows you might sneak out and go somewhere else”, we sounded him. *small dot only*

…ISH ISH ISH. My dad can be quite a headache at times. But we still love him so. After all, he’s still our beloved dad.

Later on, the doctor came in to inspect his record and told him he could discharge anytime soon by his recovery rate but reminded him ‘NO GOLF’ for the next 6 months.

And guess what he asked the doctor instead…

“Can I travel to overseas, like very soon?”, he asked.

“Of course. That’s if you come back here next week for a follow-up”, the doctor responded.

I thought the new ‘NO GOLF’ policy would be a torture to him. But he came up with something else to do instead just to surprise you. Anyway, he’s so happy about it, even if there won’t be a golf game for him for the next 6 months.

And there I am, so looking forward for him to discharge from the hospital.

*Makes mental note to spend more time with mom and dad in the future*

Ehm…mayb that’s one of the factor…from the way we eat, we live…the environment..

Just live happily and dun wasted any moment..
